Reiki is a Japanese practice of channeling universal energy in order to promote physical healing as well as increase emotional wellness in the recipient. Reiki healing is commonly given through direct contact by “laying on hands,” yet there are additional methods that allow for remote healing over long distances and even across the individual’s timeline. The effects it has on the recipient are always beneficial, providing relaxation and serenity in addition to the regenerative powers it grants to mind, spirit, and body. It also helps to balance the main energy nodes of the body, called chakras.

The word Reiki itself is a combination of two Japanese words: rei is the wisdom of Spirit, and ki is the life force energy that flows through all living things. Reiki is a simple system of healing that anyone can use, and it has been shown to help practically every known source of dis-ease. It compliments other medical treatments, helping the recipient to recover more quickly and reducing side effects.
What is Reiki?
Usui Reiki, or the Usui System of Natural Healing, was developed by Dr. Mikao Usui. Dr. Usui sought enlightenment atop a mountain and was granted the wisdom of how to use the Reiki symbols to channel universal healing. Upon his return to town, he worked with his one-time student Dr. Kayashi to found clinics dedicated to practicing these new healing treatments, and Usui continued to train students in the ways of Reiki. Dr. Kayashi attuned Mrs. Takata as a Reiki Master, and she is credited with bringing Reiki to the West when she returned to her home in Hawaii.
The practice of Reiki is a series of techniques that is driven by the practitioner’s will and intention to provide healing. The practitioner learns Reiki during a class provided by a master, and the master grants the student the ability to connect to unlimited ki through “attunements” to the different Reiki symbols. Reiki does not require the practitioner to invest his own energy; the healer becomes a conduit of universal healing energy. As an added benefit, the healer shares in the restorative energy as he channels it into the recipient. Take a look at some of our Reiki therapy offerings.
